Networked setup

Patient files can be loaded from any computer running the appropriate software. All patient files are centralised making it easier to perform file backups.

Networking Yaltara products is a simple 2-step procedure:

  1. Install the software onto the computers that require it (as per a single installation)
  2. Configure the paths of each installation to access a common patient files folder.

For more information on configuring data paths refer to the Patient Management section.

Examples

Example 1 - An example of a common network setup is provided in the diagram below. In this example PIB has been installed on 2 computers. When initially installed, these were running as single computer setups. Both installations had their paths configured to go to a patient files folder on a third computer, which in this case happens to be a network file server. This setup is often chosen when a file server is present because they are normally backed up regularly by automated software.

Example 2 - In this example there is no file server, just ordinary computers linked to one another. As above, both computers were running as single computer setups when installed. In this case it was decided that the second computer would have it's path configured to connect with a folder created for patient files on the first computer.

Note: the paths must correspond to the exact same folder or the patient files will not be accessible from the other computers.
